We are a diverse community united under Christ in spirit and in action, transforming the heart of our neighbourhood.

Core Values

First Baptist Church Victoria is …

A community of love. We gather together as a family with the desire to help one another experience a loving community full of mercy and grace. As a family we work along side each other so that every individual is able to grow and mature in a safe and loving environment.

A community of prayer. We demonstrate our complete dependency on and intimacy with God through sincere and honest prayer and meditation.

A community of worship. Worship is anything we do unto God. We worship through every conversation that we have as well as every task on which we work.

A community of diversity. We embrace relationships between all ages and ethnicities where a unity of purpose flourishes with a diversity of ideas and giftedness. We accept people as they are, extending grace, as God wants us to. We want to demonstrate an ability to be inclusive rather than exclusive and be a community that is willing to see through the eyes of Jesus.

A community of service. Jesus came to serve and not to be served. We want to develop a passion for missions that keeps service front and centre in our minds. Our church exists to give assistance to members and non-members alike. We desire to be the hands and feet and words of Jesus to our neighbourhood. We serve by building relationships so that we have opportunities to share the good news. We also serve by supporting missionaries both locally and globally, especially the missionaries of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC) and Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM).

A community who nurtures godly leaders. We are intentionally building godly leaders who can lead like Christ – leaders with a servant’ heart, who follow Biblical principles and are living examples of our mission and vision.

A community of learners. Biblical truth is taught and applied in every area of our lives. We want to understand the Bible and key elements of our Baptist faith so that transformation takes place and we become more Christ-like.
